What We Know About Las Vegas Shooter Stephen Paddock (VIDEO)

Stephen Paddock, 64, has been identified as the gunman who opened fire on people attending the Route 91 Harvest  Music Festival in Las Vegas, killing at least 58 and wounding over 500 others. He was a resident of Mesquite, Nevada, and some other facts have also begun to trickle in regarding both the shooting and the shooter.

The shooting began just after 10:00 p.m Pacific time. The concert venue is located directly across from the Mandalay Bay hotel, where Paddock was staying. Witnesses report that what sounded like automatic weapons fire began and continued for at least ten minutes. One witness managed to capture this video of the incident:

Who Was Stephen Paddock?

Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, lived on Babbling Brook Court in Mesquite, Nevada, since June of 2016. He had previously lived in Reno, Nevada, from 2011 to 2016, and also had an address in Melbourne, Florida, from 2013 to 2015. He also lived in Henderson, Nevada, and several locations in California since 1990. He was born on April 9, 1953.

“Person of Interest” Named By Police

Las Vegas police have identified a woman they call a “person of interest” in the case. Her name is Marilou Danley, and authorities released this photo of her:

Danley is described as a “companion” of Paddock, and Clark County, Nevada, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said she had been located and questioned. Lombardo noted:

“Marilou Danley is no longer being sought out as a person of interest. LVMPD detectives have made contact with her and do not believe she is involved with the shooting on the strip.”

Danley’s profile on Facebook states:

“Proud mom and grandma who lives life to the fullest.”

Paddock Sued A Las Vegas Casino In 2012

Stephen Paddock was going through a divorce, according to NBC News, though it remains unclear if that played any role in the mass shooting.

Court records show that in 2012 Paddock filed a lawsuit against Cosmopolitan Hotels & Resorts Inc. in September of that same year. The case was later dismissed with prejudice in October of 2014, and eventually settled through arbitration. Paddock sued the casino for “Negligence – Premises Liability.”

“Clip After Clip After Clip”

One witness told local media that he didn’t think the gunfire would ever end:

“Clip after clip after clip, bullets flying everywhere, people running. It was really, really bad. We were the furthest VIP stages away from Mandalay Bay and they (the bullets) were ricocheting everywhere. They were firing from somewhere high and they were unloading clip after clip after clip.”
