The White House and members of the Trump administration are in extreme spin mode as Special Counsel Robert Mueller continues to move closer to implicating the president and members of his inner circle.
Sunday on CNN, senior Trump adviser and merchant of alternative facts Kellyanne Conway and was told by host Brian Stelter that the president’s low approval numbers are not good for the country:
“Because his approval ratings are shockingly low. It’s a problem, not just for you and for me, but for the nation that this president is not trusted by the American people.”
Conway then tried to deny and pivot, replying:
“That’s wrong. You know what’s a problem for the nation? That you refuse — CNN used to be a place where people can tune in and get the news all day long. Now, they get spin and people’s opinions. And I think CNN should own it. Why not just say, ‘Look, it’s in our commercial interest at CNN to be anti-Trump’?”
When in doubt, Trump and his shills can always be counted on to try and blame the press. Stelter fired back by telling Conway:
“I understand that you don’t want an adversarial media. I guess you just want everybody to be like Fox News.”
Later, when Stelter said it was troubling that Trump continually tries to meddle in the operations of the Justice Department and the Russia investigation, Conway commented:
“The FBI and the Justice Department don’t seem interested in both sides of the so-called collusion coin. We’ve got multiple investigations through [Special Counsel Robert Mueller], through congressional and Senate committees. And CNN itself has been so hot on Russia, Russia, Russia and the dossier. CNN has been obsessed with this dossier for over a year now.”
“And now we know the DNC and the Clinton campaign paid the same firm for said dossier, which is completely unverified.”
Stelter sprang into action, refusing to let Conway get away with her lies:
“Parts of it have been verified. That is misinformation that you are spreading on my program.”
Conway again went back to Clinton:
“Then let’s look at all sides of the coin! Hillary Clinton, as Donna Brazile just pointed out — I agree with her completely — she was a walking, talking treasure trove of how to beat Hillary Clinton. We never needed to look farther than her.”
But Stelter shut down Conway with this perfectly stated line:
“I think viewers see your pivot. When I say Russia, you say Clinton. It’s part of a strategy.”
Conway and her boss know they’re guilty as hell, so they try their damnedest to slag everyone else in a vain attempt to cover their traitorous actions. But their act grew old a long time ago, and now the time has come for them to pay the price.
