Another Trump conspiracy theory just bit the dust, and it was Trump’s own FBI director who debunked it. Director Christopher Wray shot down the widespread claims that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
When speaking with ABC News correspondent Pierre Thomas about Monday’s release of the Inspector General report about the FBI’s inquiry into Donald Trump’s campaign’s links to Russia, Wray dropped a bombshell that is going to straight-up piss off Donald Trump.
“We at the FBI have no information that would indicate that Ukraine tried to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.”

In recent weeks, Trump and his allies have been spouting conspiracy theories about Ukraine’s supposed election interference. Wray says that they’re absolutely false.
“There’s all kinds of people saying all kinds of things out there. I think it’s important for the American people to be thoughtful consumers of information and to think about the sources for it,” Wray said.
In the same interview, Wray defended his agency’s work and insisted that the FBI did the right thing when they opened an investigation into Donald Trump’s campaign.
“I think it’s important that the inspector general found that, in this particular instance, the investigation was opened with appropriate predication and authorization,” Wray told ABC’s Pierre Thomas.
He also shared exactly what he thinks of the “Deep State” label that Trump and his sycophants love to refer to.
“I think that’s the kind of label that’s a disservice to the men and women who work at the FBI who I think tackle their jobs with professionalism, with rigor, with objectivity, with courage,” he said. “So that’s not a term I would ever use to describe our work force and I think it’s an affront to them.”
