Maher vs pro-gunners

Bill Maher continuously fights against pro-gun Republicans who are innately paranoid over their liberties being infringed upon. The fear is so intense that those conservatives believe we may need to start an armed insurrection. On a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, he and guest Lawrence O?Donnell parsed with the conservative panelists over this disillusioned ideology.

Bill Maher
The discussion was encouraged by a recent survey of voters conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind that found nearly three in ten voters agree that, ?In the next few years, an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect our liberties.? Nearly half of those that agreed were Republicans with only eighteen percent identifying as democrats.
Maher dismissed the whole premise by declaring that the second amendment will not protect personal liberties of anyone in the face of tyranny. Maher brought up the fact that the government has an unabashed weapons and ammo advantage. Maher used the example Waco, arguing that the government is too well-equipped for any serious opposition.
Maher ellaborated:
?Can we get, first of all, to how ridiculous it is for people to think that the Second Amendment protects them from tyranny. Didn’t Waco solve that? We just had the anniversary a couple of weeks ago. Remember Waco? You know what they had in Waco? They had like 1.9 million rounds of ammunition; they had .50 cal machine guns; they had grenades. What did the government have? Everything else! The winner and still champion ? the United States government.?
