Joe The Plumber Isn’t A Real Plumber, But He Is A Real Racist

“Joe the Plumber” is not a real plumber, and his name is not Joe. Samuel Wurzelbacher’s fifteen minutes of fame should have expired long ago, but for some reason his phony plumber “schtick” vaulted him into the spotlight as some kind of blue collar hero. Well, he became a hero to those on the far right, but not necessarily to the rest of America. While he toured with John McCain and Sarah Palin in 2008 as an “every man kind of guy,” ?the Toledo Blade discovered that “Joe the Plumber’ is not actually a licensed plumber. That revelation, however, did not diminish his credibility with movement conservatives, and nor did his frequent racist oand homophobic outbursts. In 2012, the Republicans ran him for Congress in Ohio’s 9th District. Democrat Marcy Kaptur pummeled him by a merciless 73-23 margin, but somehow Joe still has not gotten the message that he is out of touch with mainstream America.

Although “Joe the Plumber’s” pipe dream of becoming a member of Congress was flushed down the toilet in 2012, he continues to try to make himself relevant through his Joe for America blog. However, a new entry on his blog is stirring controversy and revealing his ugly White Supremacist tendencies once again. On his page, he has posted a piece entitled America Needs a White Republican President. Of course, he goes on to assure us that:

“wanting a white Republican president doesn’t make you racist, it just makes you American.”

You see, according to “Joe”, specifying that America needs a white President does not make him racist it, just makes him a patriot who happens to insist that his President be the same color as he is. Then, of course,?his page proceeds to explain how being a white supremacist is not racist at all and then the statement implies that the “real racists” are liberals and people of color.

What Mr. Wurzelbacher does not seem to understand is that being a bigot and wanting a white President does actually make him a racist. Voting for a white person does not make you a racist, but requiring the person you vote for to be white does. Perhaps “Joe the Plumber” does not grasp the nuance between those two positions. However, his racism is without nuance. In 2012, while he was campaigning for Congress, Wurzelbacher bluntly stated:

?”For years I’ve said, put a damn fence on that border going to Mexico and start shooting…that’s how I feel. I’m not going to hide it just because I’m running for office.”

However, bear in mind, “Joe” is not a racist, he just wants to have an open hunting season on Mexicans. Poor “Joe,” he does not understand why people throw out the racist label at him just because he hates people that are not white. He must be saying to himself, “can’t a white guy be prejudiced against people of color these days without being accused of racism ?

Maybe somebody needs to explain to “Joe” that his bigoted opinions are the very definition of racism. In addition, maybe somebody should explain to him one major reason why we do not have a white Republican President and why we may not have one in the near future, is because the Republican Party runs racists like “Joe the Plumber” for Congress without shame and without apology. Yes, “Joe,” you are a racist and as long as the Republican Party embraces the Tea Party faction that reveres you as an American folk hero, and permits you to run under their banner, they too are racist by association. I know, I know, Joe…in your mind you are not a racist you are just a white Patriot who hates brown people. Call it what you want, but we have a word for that in the English language. That word is “racist”. Sorry, “Joe,” you are not a real plumber, but yes, you are in fact a real racist.
