Pope Francis: “I Would Baptize Martians.”

Earlier this week, Pope Francis has been expressing more and more inclusive views for all people in the Catholic Church. He went so far as to say that he would even baptize Martians, should they ever come to Earth and desire it.

While it was a little joke that was made, it expresses the nature of Pope Francis and how he is focused on welcoming all within the church, rather than turning them away.

A More Inclusive Church.

Since his rise to the position of Pope, Pope Francis has always called for a more inclusive church in all aspects.

  • In September 2013, he reached out to agnostics and atheists, saying that they will be forgiven if they live by their conscience.
  • He has embraced a man with a disease that left tumors all over his body.
  • He has washed many people’s feet- including a woman’s.
  • In his journey to the Holy Land, he is gathering together with a rabbi and a Muslim leader for his journey- the first time this has ever occurred with the papacy.

Pope Francis- walking the walk, and talking the talk.

As Pope Francis progresses in his journey in the papacy, he continues to display reaching out to others and including them in his faith. He turns no one away, regardless of religion or background.

This is truly Christ like- Jesus would walk with those who were undesirable or considered unclean. He would sit and sup with those who were the outcasts of society.

While Pope Francis is obviously not Jesus Christ, he is actively practicing the message that he has been spreading and is truly walking the walk and talking the talk of a Christian.

I admire this pope for this and am anxious to see what comes next with everything that he has to offer.

Including a Rabbi and Muslim Leader in His Journey.

With Pope Francis doing this, it opens the door for an open dialogue about faith between different faiths.

This is an opportunity for people of faith to come together and work towards the greater good of the people of our many nations and of the world as a whole.

This is necessary, rather than wrestling dogma or arguing who is right.

In the end, we truly need to just love one another and try to learn from each other. That is how we will grow and how we will finally have some peace.

And Pope Francis is leading the way in the public eye.
