Montana Republican Has Solution For Saving GOP: Ban Immigration

Drew Turiano Montana immigration

Drew Turiano, who is running for Montana’s lone U.S. House seat, ratcheted up his xenophobic rhetoric at a primary debate on Wednesday night. Turiano called for a moratorium to ban?immigration into the United States for an undetermined period of time, because immigrants do not vote Republican. Turiano proclaimed

We should have a moratorium on all immigration to this country or ? according to all the data ? it will be the end of the Republican party and conservatism in ten years or less.

He then continued with an anti-immigrant diatribe full of lies, arguing that:

Most immigrants who come to America are big government people, so they’re going to support the party of big government ? the Democrats. They’re not going to support the party of small government ? the Republicans.

Why would they want to support the Republican Party anyway? Mr. Obama and the Democrats give them free education, free health care, free welfare, free housing ? free everything!

Republicans cannot compete with that.?We will not win any future elections, we will lose ? unless a moratorium is placed right now on all immigration…

All I know is that Mr. Obama has populated his administration with self-professed Marxists and Maoists. What does this mean for the future of the Constitution? The Bill of Rights? Capitalism? Humanity?

American conservatives are looking at an extinction-level event in this country unless we place a moratorium on immigration right now. We’re looking at a political singularity ? the annihilation of conservatism in this country in ten years or less!

Of course, Turiano’s characterization of immigrants as lazy moochers looking for free stuff is false, but he is probably counting on a lot of voters feeding into that mythology. Immigrants typically seek work and are employed at high rates. Contrary to popular belief, they also are considerably less likely to commit crimes than?American born citizens.

Turiano did have a point though perhaps. Immigrants may indeed send Republicans to political extinction, but not for the reasons he states. Instead, they will consign the Republicans to political oblivion, simply because candidates like Turiano stereotype them, demonize them, and attempt to deprive them of their political and civil rights.

For that Republicans deserve to be obliterated in the political arena, beginning with Turiano, who Republican primary voters in Montana should reject on Tuesday. Not just immigrants, but voters native born and foreign born alike, should vote not to send Turiano and his bigoted views to Washington.
