If you’ve been hiding under a rock, you may not be aware that?Texas Gov. Rick Perry was indicted last week by a grand jury in Austin, Texas on felony counts of abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant. The maximum punishment?on the charge of abuse of official capacity is five to 99 years in prison, and the maximum?punishment on coercion of a public servant is two to 10 years in prison.

Perry is feigning bravado and pretending that he has nothing to worry about (or not feigning….he may truly just BE that arrogant), but the fact is, all’s not right in Gov. Good Hair’s world. He’s lost that one thing that most good old Texas boys need to feel truly manly: his gun.

Our own Austin American Statesman said it best:

Those of you who wish ill upon Gov. Rick Perry (and shame on you for doing so) perhaps will find delight in the fact that his indictment already has hit him where it hurts. It’s right there in federal law, specifically the federal law known as 18 USC 922(n), and I quote:

?It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person (1) is under indictment for, or has been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.?

So guess who that applies to? As the Statesman’s very clever?Ken Herman said, our “fun-with-guns governor is now in that category.”

Not only will Gov. Perry’s concealed handgun licence be suspended, he will not be able to buy ammo, per the law. If he is acquitted of the charges that have been brought against him, he can regain his rights.

Do we wish ill on Gov. Rick Perry? Not precisely. We don’t want anything bad to happen to him. If we have a “wish,” it would that that he?go away. Ride away into the sunset, if you will. We wish he would never be in public office again. We wish that he never has the opportunity to do damage again. We certainly wish all kinds of ill on any plans he may have to sit in the Oval Office.

And we don’t feel at all ashamed for wishing for any of those things.
