The NFL can not get any love lately, can they? Just one shameful incident after another. While this most recent disgrace should not in any way be compared to other things that have happened, it’s still worth noting. There’s a reason that NFL players and the league aren’t getting any love; they keep screwing up! Or, rather…we may have to start calling them jerks.
Seriously.
I’m working on a GOOD NEWS NFL story, but for now, let’s talk about low-life trashy NFL “star” who seems to think it’s OK to pay waitstaff who are making $2.83 per hour a .03 percent tip. Wrap your mind around this: 20 cents on a bill that was $61.56. Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, I’m looking at you.
Let’s hear the story directly from the owner of the restaurant, Mr. Tommy Up. He went to social media to defend his staff and he is NOT apologizing for it. Indeed, why should he? I’ve embedded Mr. Up’s Facebook page statement below. Click “see more” to see the entire post and the comments.
Not everyone is supporting Mr. Up, but we certainly are. I was a waiter back in the day. I know what it’s like to live day to day and depend on the grace of strangers to pay my rent.
Some celebrities are stepping up to have Tommy Up’s back, too.
LeSean McCoy, you are a classless jerk. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, and no kind of service that would warrant this kind of behavior. You need to apologize, and you need to go back there with a fair and adequate tip for the servers.
Where is the NFL getting these clowns? They may need to check a few more references, or at least put them through some sort of hardcore training that goes beyond football. Let’s let Mr. McCoy know what we think of him with a tweet. Here is his Twitter account.
