After the revelation of shocking abuse allegations at Australia’s most prestigious all-boys school, the school has caused outrage by erecting a memorial that says “he touched us all.”

Staff at Knox Grammar School in Sydney were forced to remove the embarrassing sign after further allegations were made about Bruce Barrett during an inquiry into how it dealt with child sex abuse.

The teacher was convicted of five counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault in 2009, according to the Australia Independent.

School officials paid tribute to its former art teacher and even made students attend his funeral, the inquiry heard.

Barrett also allegedly invited former pupils to sex parties and offered to paid them up to ?700 for sex.

Victim Scott Ashton said this:

“The fact that he was so well regarded by the school despite being a notorious molester made me feel very confused and powerless,” Ashton told the inquiry.

Indeed.

The abuse problem at the school seems to have been an epidemic. Another victim claimed that a music teacher at the school, Barrier Stewart, grabbed boys’ genitals “so casually it was like a handshake.”
