One woman is taking the promotion of feminism to the next step and is posting her message on period pads to promote feminism in a very different, yet thought provoking, way.
Elon??first posted this image to Tumblr on Sunday. It’s now been shared “over 100,000 times” and?has started a viral flow of action worldwide (see what I did there?). The inspiration behind the message came from a tweet by user @cutequeer96.
Elon??has been writing messages on pads to bring attention to women’s rights, street harassment, and victim blaming including these messages.
She has of course had haters. In response to one, she replied:
“Why the?fuck did you just get offended? Because of period pads?”
According to Buzzfeed, she?also wants those that would like to spread the message to,
“…tag their photos and to spread the message that ‘feminism means equality, not men hate.”
I’m not sure how many have thought about it, but there is a major point behind asking what is so much more gross about a period than the act of rape. One is natural. One is not natural. Many men from business owners to politicians tell us no when it comes to going and grabbing us a box of tampons, abortion, equal pay, and equal rights; however, a woman is likely to be judged and slut shamed when she says no and is raped.
Buzzfeed has contacted Elon??for an interview. Let’s all hope she agrees, and we can hear where she got this amazing, though-provoking idea from!
