I’m not a fan of Pizza Hut – never have been, and most likely never will be. While the taste of the food is modest, the amount of oils used within the dough is gut-wrenching, literally. I’ve felt the same way?about the popular pizza chain since I was a child. I always thought I would be alone on this stance – until now. A Tennessee man took Pizza Hut to court for what he dubbed an “excessively hard crouton.”
Everett Chattman was eating a salad at a Harriman, Tennessee Pizza Hut when he bit into a crouton and broke his partial denture.
Chattman initially tried to settle using insurance, but decided to pursue Pizza Hut in court when insurance negotiations were halted according to Roane County News of Kingston Tennessee.
The WBIR reports Mr. Chattman accusing Pizza Hut of causing personal injury and damages.
Chattman’s lawyer stated that Pizza Hut had caused damage to his client’s dentures by
“. . .negligently serving at defendant’s restaurant excessively hard croutons.”
Eventually, to the surprise of many, the judge fell for Chattman’s story – awarding him $2,400 with interests and court costs.
