This is an episode of ABC’s “What Would You Do?” that?takes place in at a small bakery near Waco, Texas. In this episode, a Muslim woman enters the bakery and tries to order an apple strudel. The employee refuses her service, accusing her of being a Muslim terrorist. The hidden cameras film the other customer’s reactions to this outright bigotry.
Some of the reactions were quite disturbing, but living in Texas, not at all surprising. The word “Muslim” has become the new N-word that a lot Texans love to use in order to discriminate and de-humanize. There was a “protest” at a Muslim conference in Grand Prairie, Texas not too long ago. The protesters objected to the Muslims holding a conference there; they waved American flags and called them Muslim terrorists. What was the conference about you ask? It was a conference being held for American Muslims to speak out against these so called “Muslim terrorists.”
If one just tried to even attempt to explain the irony of that situation to those protesters, they would need several hours, a few pots of coffee and maybe some crack — and that’s just to? get them to understand what the word irony means.
So the video is below. Some of the attitudes taken by these customers will disgust you, while others will give you some hope that we can salvage civilized society.
