‘God Loves Gays’ Billboard Appears In Orem, Utah–Next One Planned For Salt Lake City

The group, YouCaring.com, paid to put up the first of the billboards near the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Westboro Baptist has been responsible for several hateful protests they have staged outside the funerals of American military personnel who have been killed in battle. At those protests, church members hold signs which say disgusting things such as, “God Hates F*gs.”

But now the Lord Himself has weighed in on the issue, and He even took to Twitter to announce:

BEHOLD! God hath launched a campaign to put billboard all across the nation! http://www.youcaring.com/god-loves-gays-362857??

Money for the billboards is raised via crowd-sourcing methods, and YouCaring says their next billboard is planned for somewhere in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The group also says it has a message directly from God that He wants everyone to hear:

?Mormons still think that Heavenly Father hates gay people, which is FALSE! I’m placing these billboards in Utah to set the record straight on the subject, now and forever. GOD LOVES GAYS. And I’m totally cool with their lifestyle too. Why else would I make so many wonderful gay Mormons?”

What’s behind this unique and novel approach to the issue of LGBT rights? The group’s website states:

“There are so many young LGBT kids who face daily bullying just for who they are. Sadly all too often LGBT teens take their own lives due to the extreme lack of acceptance they face from their family, religious institution, or bigoted bullies. It is extremely important that this message of love is spread throughout the world.”

That is exactly what the world needs more of: More love, less hate. After all, God expects nothing less from all of us.
