Tuesday, wealthy entrepreneur Donald Trump announced that he will join the already-packed presidential race. While he has flirted with the idea of running in previous years, this is the farthest he has ever gone with it. He has 30 days to file officially for his entry into the Republican Primary Race.
What does this mean for opponents?
It means that he will do what he always does – troll everyone and leave.
As a someone with presidential aspirations should, Trump will make headlines often and have millions of people talking but for all the wrong reasons. He will make inflammatory remarks towards everyone involved. He will continually create distractions that have very little to do with the issues Americans face on a daily basis. He will make statements and promises he knows he can’t back up. This is why late-night comics Jon Stewart and Larry Wilmore are so excited about ‘The Donald’ stepping into the political spotlight once again. Twitter had plenty of fun with it as well.
Here is the main reason, according to Trump, he can do and say whatever he wants.
I’m using my own money. I’m not using lobbyists. I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich.
Here’s a small breakdown of what he’s managed to pull in only the first 24 hours so far.
Trump made it very clear that he is his own lobbyist and donor. He doesn’t have to listen to anybody. He can spend most of his speech boasting about his money and assets. He can call a paralyzed journalist names without anyone telling him it isn’t wise to do so.
He can promise to be the greatest president of all time while being famously known for the words, “You’re fired.”
Trump also made a promise to President Barack Obama. He’ll allow him to use one of his ‘many’ golf courses if he steps down before his term ends. He teased Secretary of State John Kerry for having a cycling injury.
He even said that he would build a great wall along the USA’s southern border and make Mexico pay for it while accusing Mexican Immigrants of being mostly rapists and drug dealers.
