In a blatant display of racism in America, a?man named Chris Oliver, his wife, Angela, and about 100 of their fellow flag-waving friends decided it would be a good idea to have a little Confederate Battle Flag parade through Petersburg, VA. It ended with Oliver getting his feelings hurt a bit, and an almost imperceptible dent in his truck from a plastic water bottle thrown by a bystander.
Petersburg, VA boasts an African-American population of around 77% as of the 2013 survey. Who in their right mind would consider it a good idea to parade a known symbol of racial prejudice and hate through?a predominantly African-American neighborhood? Were these idiots trying to start a riot?
I mean, he might as well have stood there and hollered,
“I’m from the Klan and I’m here to help you be good citizens.” (Not an actual quote – he did NOT say that)
Think back to the 50s and 60s. Young, tough, white guys driving around in the black neighborhoods of the past in their pick up trucks hollering racial slurs and stopping to beat up an innocent person just walking along the sidewalk because they had the nerve to simply exist. Remember hearing about that in history class? I do. It was not a pretty era. It is not an era I care to repeat.
But yet, here come these idiots, in their pick up trucks, “innocently” riding along waving their Confederate Battle Flags and itching to pick a fight with the peaceful residents.
And then they get upset and whine when their antagonistic behavior is met with simple retaliation? Don’t get me wrong, the bystander should have just ignored their dumb asses. It is against the law in Virginia to throw anything at a moving vehicle. But it was just a plastic water bottle.
So your phallic symbol pick up truck has a slight indentation? Buy yourself a sink plunger and pop that baby out. I’m a girl and even I know how to do that! When you do dumb things, there are usually consequences. Put on your Confederate Flag-patterned big-boy panties and mosey on back to your own neighborhood.
Oliver says he wants the bottle thrower punished to the full extent of the law and is whining because he feels that the Petersburg police aren’t taking the matter seriously. He thinks that there is enough video evidence to not only identify the person that threw the plastic water bottle, but to gain a conviction. He feels like his right to express his blatant racism has been taken away from him by this incident.
