GOP presidential hopeful and belligerent blowhard Donald Trump spoke with CNN’s Chris Cuomo about Pope Francis and the Pope’s view of capitalism. Just for fun, Cuomo asked Trump this:
“You meet the Pope. Pope Francis comes. There’s a translator there. and he says ‘Oh Mr. Trump, this is very nice.’ Then he says, ‘I want to tell him something’ and the translator says to you: ‘The Pope believes that capitalism can be a real avenue to greed, it can be really toxic and corrupt, and he’s shaking your finger at you while he says it? What do you say in response to the Pope?”
Trump’s response:
“I’d say, ‘ISIS wants to get you.’ You know that ISIS wants to go in and take over the Vatican? You have heard that. You know, that’s a dream of theirs, to go into Italy.”
A confused Cuomo sought clarity and asked:
“He talks to you about capitalism and you scare the pope?”
Trump’s response:
“I’m gonna have to scare the Pope because it’s the only thing. The Pope, I hope, can only be scared by God. But the truth is…you know, if you look at what’s going on, they’d better hope that capitalism works, because it’s the only thing we have right now. And it’s a great thing when it works properly.”
Trump then admits that “in our country, it’s not been working properly.”
