You Won’t Believe What Tom Brady Just Said About ‘The Donald’

Tom Brady announced yesterday that he didn’t mean to endorse Donald Trump for president, saying that he “hasn’t paid attention” to politics, and that the race for the 2016 White House is “way off [his] radar.”

“I don’t even know what the issues are… It’s actually not something that I even really enjoy,” he said.

Tom Brady is not known for making good choices. Just having gotten over the “Deflategate” debacle with his team, the New England Patriots, he was on the cusp of public acceptance once again. Then, he endorsed Donald Trump, leading many people to wonder what Brady would have thought would be so great about a GOP Trump White House.

About a Trump presidency, Brady had said:

“It would be great. There would be a putting green on the White House lawn, I can tell you that.”

C’mon, Tom, you’re selling yourself short when you say you don’t know what the issues are! A putting green on the White House lawn– surely that is one of the most pressing issues in the 2016 presidential race.

Maybe that will be the main topic of discussion in the next massively overpopulated GOP debate. Carly Fiorina and Jeb Bush would get into verbal fisticuffs about whether there should be those little ball cleaners on the side of the holes, and Ben Carson would claim that golf is a weapon of the devil.

It turns out, White House putting green aside, Tom Brady says he has no opinion of any presidential candidates, and that his comments were taken out of context. We can appreciate his honesty about his own political acumen, though, and would agree that sports stars are not always the best people to be taking political advice from.

He says,

“Whatever I vote is going to be my own personal choice based on how I feel.”

We hope that if the sports fans take one piece of advice from Tom Brady on voting, it would be how important it is to get out and vote: Hey kids, Tom Brady votes, and so should you!
