You Won’t Believe Who Raised Over $200,000 For San Bernardino In Ten Days

A group called “Muslims United” has managed to raise a fund of over $200,00 for the victims of the December 2 shooting in San Bernardino, California.

The fund was created two days after the shooting on December 2. It was made by a California-based neurologist, Faisal Qazi and Tarek El-Messidi. Their initial target was to reach $175,000. They’ve since smashed that target by reaching $200,000 two days before the funding closes.

The funding page states:

“At least 14 people were killed and 17 more wounded in San Bernardino, California where up to 3 attackers went on a shooting spree at a regional center that serves those with special needs. The San Bernardino families lost their loved ones in a deplorable act of violence. This is why a collective of American Muslim leaders and groups have united to raise funds for the victims’ families.”

It’s an amazing thing for Muslim-Americans to do during this climate of Islamophobia and anti-Muslim attacks. With Donald Trump pushing the idea that all Muslims are dangerous and need to be blocked from entering the United States, this act is touching to witness.

“This united American Muslim campaign aims to reclaim our faith from extremists by responding to evil with good, by rebuilding what they destroy,” Tarek El-Messidi said in a press release. “We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action.”

100 percent of the funds raised will be given to survivors and families of the victims affected by the shooting. According to the Los Angeles Times, the funds will be given out through San Bernadino County and United Way.
