At times, those of us living with anxiety and depression find it difficult to function. We hide behind a smile and an ‘everything is okay’ attitude, but under our fake facade we are in pain. Illustrator Gemma Correll understands what we are going through; like many great artists, she too suffers from anxiety and depression.
Correll decided to take her own experiences and, with a sense of humor, share them through her drawings. Correll explains:
“I honestly think that humour can be a savior at times of distress, or if you just live with a constant level of anxiety and depression like I do…I know that I would have felt a little better as an anxiety-ridden teenager if I knew that I wasn’t completely alone in my fears.”
