If You Want To Be Rich, Read These 5 Books

There are millions of books (and lots of advice) on the market about financial freedom and independence. Across the market you’ll find a huge amount of trash, and a huge amount of useful stuff.  Here are five of the best books around that will lead to you becoming financially independent.

1. Outliers

If there’s anything you get from this book, it’s got to be the 10,000 hour rule. The author of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell, believes one thing about becoming an expert in any field.

In order to become an expert, you have to dedicate 10,000 hours of work. It doesn’t matter what field, or area you wish to master, you must put in your 10,000 hours of practice. Only then can you consider yourself an expert and master of whatever it is you’ve decided to specialize in.

2. The Secret

This book by Rhonda Byrne speaks about the law of attraction. The law of attraction dictates that as we speak and think, we send out a frequency that the universe automatically responds to with experiences and events.

For example, if you were to think about negativity, then you’d only see negativity in your life. On the other hand if you were to think about being rich and successful all the time, those are the things that would come back to you.

3. Think And Grow Rich

This is an old book that talks about the mindset and psychology of becoming rich. It speaks about having the desire to become rich. Having desire is more than just wishing to be rich, but wanting to be rich.

This desire must manifest itself in faith. This faith must be a type of persistent and unbreakable self-confidence that will soon lead to financial gain.

4. Who Moved My Cheese?

This is a really short and easy read that should have you finished within an hour. It simply tells the story of four mice trapped in a maze and their only goal is to find the cheese in this maze necessary to survive.

The entire story is a metaphor for life in the real world. How do you react when your metaphorical cheese disappears? Do you sit around and wait for it? Or do you go out and search for more?

5. Rich Dad, Poor Dad

Simply the best book out there when it comes to financial freedom. There is some question over whether or not the author, Robert Kiyosaki, was actually wealthy before writing this book. You can bet your bottom dollar that he is now, though.

The book tells the story of life from the point of view of a “rich” dad and a “poor” dad. Many valuable lessons can be learned from either dad, but the financial lessons can be learned mainly from the “rich” one.

The “rich” dad never used the words, “I can’t afford it.” He’d rather raise the question “How can I afford it?” He also teaches us that rather than going to work for money, the best way to get rich is to make our money work for us.

From all of these books, there are a thing or two that can be learned to put us on the path to financial independence. Whether it’s the mental or psychological side from books such as “The Secret” and “Think and Grow Rich” to the more practical teachings of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” and “Outliers.” These five books will set you on your path to financial freedom.
