Beyonce Partnering With United Way To Help Flint’s Kids

Beyonce joins the growing list of celebrities making donations to Flint, Michigan, where residents continue to deal with a water crisis that has poisoned thousands of children. Her team shared Sunday night that Beyonce is partnering with United Way and will be working with The Community Foundation of Greater Flint. A fund will be set up to study long term health, nutrition, developmental, and education needs of Flint’s children.

Partnering directly with The Community Foundation of Greater Flint may mean concerns are addressed and dealt with faster than working with the government. What is known about Flint water is that the lead levels in it are high enough to cause neurological damage in developing children, along with skin lesions rashes, and hair loss. The long term effects are yet to be seen, which makes ongoing assessments and testing of children very necessary.
