Report: Ben Carson Plans To Endorse Donald Trump

Dr. Ben Carson will endorse Donald Trump for the GOP presidential nomination, a report announced Thursday.

Carson, who dropped out of the presidential race earlier this month, will announce his endorsement on Friday, the Washington Post wrote, quoting two sources familiar with the campaigns.

In what is expected to be the most “high-profile” endorsement of Trump since New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the details were finalized after Carson and Trump met at Mar-a-Lago, the resort owned by Trump, the Post reported.

The announcement is expected to take place at the luxury club in Palm Beach, Fla., in a news conference where the two will appear alongside each other.

In an interview with John Gibson on Fox News Radio, Carson said of Trump,

“There’s the Donald Trump that you see on television and who gets out in front of big audiences, and there’s the Donald Trump behind the scenes. They’re not the same person. One’s very much an entertainer, and one is actually a thinking individual.”

Carson added that he was “certainly leaning toward” endorsing him. This comes a week after a former Carson staffer was quoted as saying he thought there was a good chance that Carson would endorse Trump:

“The chance of Ben jumping onboard with Trump is very real.”

Carson’s former Iowa Campaign Chair Rob Taylor also said if he were Trump he’d look at making Carson his top pick for Vice President.
