Last night on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” none other than Democratic Senator and Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders made an unexpected appearance, and he wound up getting plenty of laughs at the host’s expense.
Sanders was invited to help Colbert pull the lever for a quick spin of the “Wheel of News,” and then Sanders noticed something that caught his attention: A “Late Show” staffer under the desk holding onto the wheel. Sanders remarked:
“Hey! There is a human being down here. What is going on. What are you doing to this worker? What kind of operation are you running, Stephen?”
Without missing a beat, Colbert replied:
“It’s a talk show, Bernie.”
Once the wheel was finally spun, it landed on “T-shirt cannon,” so the Vermont Senator bravely took the cannon in hand and began shooting shirts into the audience.
No matter who winds up winning the Democratic nomination, one thing is certain: Both candidates have the ability to make fun of themselves and have a good time, as Sanders proved last night.
