It was something none of us wanted, but it is happening. Donald Trump is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party.
Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwomen of the DNC, had some words for Mr. Trump, and she shared them with us all. In a post on Medium, the chair of the Democratic National Committee wanted to remind us all of Trump’s attitudes towards women. He is viewed unfavorably by 70% of women, according to Gallup.
She calls the presumptive Republican nominee “a misogynist of the worst order”. There’s substantial evidence that proves her right.
Wasserman Schultz quotes Trumps own statements. Such gems like the following:
“So let’s just focus in on some of his comments about mothers and motherhood. When discussing his own children and wife in 2005, Trump said ‘I won’t do anything to take care of them. I’ll supply funds and she’ll take care of the kids.’ Wonder what Mother’s Day is like in a home where the father refuses to lift a finger?”.
Statements like these are not the way to the Presidency of the United States, although they do seem to allow one to be the nominee of one of the major political parties in the country.
The DNC chair wants women to be proud of their womanhood and make sure that they consider who is really on their side in November. After all, Trump doesn’t even believe moms should be hired. Wasserman Schultz wrote:
“When asked about hiring moms, Trump once said, ‘she’s not giving me 100%. She’s giving me 84%, and 16% is going towards taking care of children.’ So good luck getting a job, never mind being paid fairly or treated with respect.”
For the record, Trump isn’t doing to well with men either. That same Gallup poll says that 58% of men have an unfavorable view of him, as well. Let’s make the right decision on Election Day.
