Last night, as he accepted the nomination of the Republican Party as the 2016 candidate for the White House, you would be forgiven if you thought Donald Trump was channeling an apocalyptic prophet from Old Testament times. To hear him tell it, the country and the world are falling apart and only he has the solution to the problems which confront us all. Of course, he offered no specifics, we’re just supposed to trust him.

As he was speaking–for an hour and fifteen minutes!–his Democratic challenger, Hillary Clinton was live-tweeting, and it was truly a thing of beauty. I was on Twitter last night as Trump spoke, and there were times when I would see Clinton’s tweets and nod my head in agreement. Other times I laughed at how expertly she was trolling the Orange Menace. She retweeted some claims from Trump that were made to “The Briefing” with corrections:

Then the former Secretary of State took to her own Twitter account and destroyed Trump again:

The social media campaign being waged by the Clinton camp is state-of-the-art and will be one of the main weapons used against Trump and the GOP in the months ahead. Expect him to be fact checked at every step and called out for his endless lying. In other words, the Clinton team will be busy as they slowly dissect the biggest threat to this country’s freedom in decades.
