WATCH: Newt Gingrich Declares, Trump Could Get More Black Votes ‘Than Any Republican In Modern Times’

With Donald Trump headed to Detroit today to participate in a service at an African-American church, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich thought this would the perfect time to regale us all with a line so stupid, so clueless, and so laughable that we’d all get a hearty chuckle at his expense.

Appearing on “The O’Reilly Factor” last night, Gingrich told guest host Eric Bolling that Trump’s so-called “outreach” to black voters is simply unprecedented in modern GOP politics. Of course, Gingrich neglected to mentioned that this outreach is failing to work, with recent polls showing Trump either getting zero to one percent support from African-American voters who were surveyed.

Nevertheless, Gingrich decided to make a bold–and utterly ridiculous–prediction:

“If he continues to say and if he has the courage to go back to places like Chicago and say it, I think he’s gonna get far more votes from the black community than any Republican in modern times.”

These comments from Gingrich, along with Trump’s oft-repeated line when he is supposedly reaching out to minorities–“What have you got to lose?–prove that Republicans do not understand the first thing about the demographic groups they have decided to court so as to give the appearance they aren’t out of touch, which of course they are.

Come November, it seems safe to say that Trump and the GOP will get a historically low percentage of votes from African-Americans, Hispanics, women, the college educated, and the LGBT community. Which is why they are destined to lose in a landslide.
