Hold on to your hats, this presidential race has gotten even uglier. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has accused Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump of practically encouraging his supporters to kill Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
He sent out a tweet saying:
Hey @realDonaldTrump, if you keep suggesting your supporters kill @HillaryClinton, someone will listen. The blood will be on your hands.

The tweet reads:
“Hey @realDonaldTrump if you keep suggesting your supporters kill @HillaryClinton, someone will listen. The blood will be on your hands.”
Senator Murphy’s tweet was in response to something Trump said Friday, September 16 at a campaign rally.
Trump is quoted as saying:
“I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons. Take their guns away. She doesn’t want guns… let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, OK? It’d be very dangerous.”
No kidding.
Democrats are furious at Trump’s comment, saying it’s an incitement of violence. In response, Clinton’s campaign shouted out to Republican leaders to strongly denounce the statement.
Back in the first half of August, Trump addressed the crowd with this:
“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don’t know.”
Senator Murphy reacted to the first gun related comment Trump made as well. He suggested that a Secret Service investigation be opened, as it could be considered an assassination threat.

Was @realDonaldTrump suggesting his supporters shoot Hillary? Shoot her nominee? Who knows. It's all so disgusting and embarrassing and sad.

This isn't play. Unstable people with powerful guns and an unhinged hatred for Hillary are listening to you, @realDonaldTrump.

Don't treat this as a political misstep. It's an assassination threat, seriously upping the possibility of a national tragedy & crisis.

Although Trump has since said the comments were said as a joke, not everyone is laughing. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D) joined Murphy in calling on the Secret Service to probe Trump over the statement.
Donald Trump suggested someone kill Sec. Clinton. We must take people at their word. @SecretService must investigate #TrumpThreat.

There is a reason why comments like this are dangerous and why politicians tend to offer very measured comments in public. They are influential, and they know it. Trump may be influential but he’s no politician.
I used to be a fan of The Apprentice. Then I was amused at his Trumpy way of politicking. Now however, my fandom and amusement have turned to revulsion.
He has revealed himself not just as a silly man with notions of grandeur, but as a man with a deep narcissism and a tremendous lack of empathy.
In short, keep Trump away from the White House and keep Hillary safe.
