Alex Jones Accuses Anderson Cooper Of Being Secret CIA Operative (VIDEO)

America’s preeminent right-wing nutjob, Alex Jones, is at it again. In a recent statement, Jones charges that the next presidential debate’s moderator, Anderson Cooper, is a CIA operative.

“They’ve got CIA Anderson Cooper running the next debate. He’s admittedly CIA.”

And why would the CIA want one of their own to moderate the debate?  To throw it for Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, of course.  Jones believes the debates, like the political system as a whole, is “rigged.”

While an undergrad at Yale, Cooper did, in fact, intern for the CIA for two summers. But he found the government work boring, and was more interested in journalism. In 2006, Cooper wrote:

“I know the CIA may sound more exotic and mysterious, but it was actually pretty bureaucratic and mundane, at least the little bit that I saw of it. By the end of the second summer, I realized it was not a place I wanted to work after college.”

Sniffing Out the CIA

Jones has never been one to let facts stand in the way of his worldview. In fact, he seems to find CIA infiltration everywhere. Back in July, Jones’ site – Infowars – claimed that the popular mobile game Pokemon Go was a CIA front. By playing the game, millions of unsuspecting Americans were being duped into turning their phones into “Imperial probe droids.”

And Anderson Cooper isn’t the only high-level CIA operative interfering in American politics. Last month, he revealed that President Obama’s mother was a sex operative for the CIA.

The biggest bombshell of all? In 2010, Jones wrote that Obama himself was a CIA stooge.

The scary thing is that compared to some of Jones’ other conspiracy theories, these CIA charges – including the most recent about Anderson Cooper – are pretty tame.  Measured against the possibility that “an alien force not of this world” is “attacking humanity,” or that the government may have used planes and helicopters to destroy an Oklahoma town with a tornado, the likelihood that Obama works for the CIA starts to look almost reasonable.

‘Angry With the Media’

Jones – like his preferred presidential candidate, Republican Donald Trump – has a contentious history with mainstream journalism. He recently attacked the media (along with Leftists, Muslims, “globalists,” and Satanists) in one of the long, angry rants that have become his hallmark:

“I’m really so fundamentally angry with the media – how deceptive they are, what traitors they are, how low they are. … MSNBC is foam-at-the-mouth deception and is so filled with hate of you and your family, they can’t even control it.”

“Foam-at-the-mouth deception.” An ironic choice of words considering that Jones himself has made a career connecting of invisible dots and barking bizarre conspiracy theories over the air. His brand of nonsense is so absurd that you can’t tell if he’s being theatrical simply to boost ratings, or if he’s legitimately unhinged.

It’s easy to criticize Jones. But for millions across the country, his show isn’t just entertainment – it’s news. They want desperately to believe that everything that happens is part of some grand design.  For these sad suckers, there’s a brilliant conspiracy afoot perpetrated by the government, or the Illuminati, or whoever. Unfortunately for them, the real world is more complicated than the one Jones imagines. It’s also more interesting.
