You might think that when a man–especially one running for the highest office in the land–admits that he’s fond of groping women’s crotches and kissing them against their will, it would be lights out and bye-bye for that person, but according to Mike Pence, we all need to learn to forgive Donald Trump.

Speaking at Liberty University, Pence remarked:

“It takes a big man to know when you are wrong, admit it, express remorse and apologize, and Donald Trump did just that.”

Wonder if Pence would be so forgiving if Trump had said he wanted to grab the pussy of one of Pence’s two daughters. Something tells me his Christian forgiveness would go right out the proverbial window.

Pence went on to say:

“As a believer, we are called to aspire to live Godly lives, but we recognize we all fall short. It’s not about condoning what is said and done, it’s about believing in grace and forgiveness.”

That’s completely true, and as a Christian I agree wholeheartedly. But I do wonder why Pence has not been nearly as forgiving of others (i.e. Bill or Hillary Clinton) who may have made mistakes in their lives. Where is his grace and forgiveness when it comes to those he disagrees with politically? If he’s not willing to extend that same grace to everyone, then Pence is just a rank hypocrite, and there’s far too many of those in this world and in churches across this country.

As both Trump and Pence go around the country tossing mud at their opponents, perhaps they would be well-advised to consider this advice directly from Jesus:

“So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, ‘He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.'” (John 8:7)
