With Donald Trump trying to turn Trump Tower into the new White House, the press has been surrounding it for 24-7 coverage. However, even the press misses some things, right? That is what happened today, as former Vice President Dan Quayle made an appearance and no one noticed.
It appears to be that Quayle entered Trump Tower with Kellyanne Conway, the President-elect’s former campaign manager and current senior adviser. Unfortunately for Quayle, the press did not notice him. A pool report confirmed the details:
“The press pen did not initially recognize him and did not ask any questions. However, Sean Spicer just confirmed to your pooler that it was Quayle.”
The pooler originally wrote that it was an “unidentified man” that was with Conway — ouch. The pool report also stated that Quayle had breakfast today with Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
For those, like the press today, who aren’t familiar with Quayle, he served as Vice President from 1989 to 1993 under former President George H.W. Bush. And here is proof that Quayle was there:

Of course, Quayle not being recognized in Trump Tower brought on some amazing tweets. Here are some of the best:
Pence: We need a big star to come in & distract from Trump's flag burning tweet.
Kellyanne Conway: That sounds like a job for Dan Quayle.— Laurie Crosswell ?️ (@lauriecrosswell) November 29, 2016

I'm not sure what's worse, that Dan Quayle may be in the Trump Administration or that if he is, he'll be known as "the smart one."

Despite missing Quayle on the way up, the press was able to meet with the former Vice President to get some words from him. He was just there to offer his congratulations to Trump and he believes that:
“…Things are in good hands.”
I guess he hasn’t been paying attention to politics since he left office or any of the recent cabinet appointments that Trump has made. This is also the man that didn’t know how to spell while he was Vice President, so I am not trusting his take on where things stand with Trump as President.
CNN did catch some of Quayle speaking with the press, so check it out here:
