IT’S ON: Women’s March on Washington Issued DC Permit (VIDEO)

When President-elect Donald Trump won the election, women all over the country vowed to march on Washington, D.C., on the day after Trumpkin’s inauguration.

The D.C. police confirmed Thursday morning that they have issued a permit for the Women’s March on Washington. This will likely be the largest demonstration around the Trump inauguration.

It will start at Independence Avenue and Third Street. Then, it will move west along Independence. The group hasn’t confirmed the official route yet, otherwise.

They do still have pending requests for other locations. T hey will have to work with the National Park Service, which has jurisdiction over downtown D.C.

Twenty other groups who have also applied for permits to protest at the Inauguration.

From their Mission Statement:

“The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us – immigrants of all statuses, Muslims and those of diverse religious faiths, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, survivors of sexual assault – and our communities are hurting and scared. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.

“In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.”

They have announced that anyone who stands for women’s rights is welcome to join them in the protest. Most of the states have made their own Facebook pages for people who want to join the event.

There are other groups that are trying to get protests on Inauguration Day, but they haven’t gotten permits yet. Trump’s Inauguration Committee gets to decide which protests are allowed.
