New York City Neighborhoods Got A Big Valentine’s Day Surprise – #LoveThroughHate (IMAGES)

Residents of New York City received a very special Valentine’s Day greeting on Tuesday. Projected onto several buildings in the city was an image of a smiling, pregnant Donald Trump being held by a proud Vladimir Putin. Both are naked. A caption reads, “#Love Through Hate”.

The image and hashtag quickly took over social media.  People posted photos of sightings around the city and it was even made into a tee shirt. Everyone wanted to learn more about the artist and message behind the odd street art.

As it turns out, the projection was actually a low-key advertisement for an app called Hater. Hater works a lot like tinder, except people are matched based on things that they mutually hate, like slow walkers and paying extra for guacamole.

The inspiration for the stunt seems to be the fact that 80 percent of its users chose Trump as one of the things they hate.

The minds behind Hater insisted that the prank was all in good fun, saying:

“There’s a lot of animosity out there, regardless of what side you’re on. We’re just trying to make people laugh. Through humor, hate can turn into love.”

The joke was unveiled in the wake of serious concerns about the political relationship between Trump and Putin. There have already been several public scandals involving Russia and the Trump Administration, including recent evidence that Trump officials were in contact with Putin during the presidential election.

This isn’t the first time that Trump has inspired thought provoking street art, and it probably won’t be the last. Time and time again, we’ve seen that creativity and humor are two of our most powerful weapons in the fight against his reign.

It’s enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
