The images flowing out of Syria are heart wrenching. Unfortunately, we have seen similar images before. The multiple mix of emotions that ran through you as you watched the footage of carnage is a normal human response. The mind struggles to comprehend the evil that possesses the Bashar al-Assad regime to commit these terrorist attacks on innocent people. Your blame is placed squarely on the guilty party.

It is a shame that our government is lacking that same human emotional response. The White House took this horrible event and shamelessly used it to vilify former President Barack Obama.

ABC News reported on the White House statement:

“‘Today’s attack is reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world,’ Spicer told reporters. ‘These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution. President Obama said in 2012 that he’d establish a red line against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing. The U.S. stands with our allies across the globe to condemn this intolerable act.'”

Can we just put politics aside briefly and address the screams coming from war-torn Syria? The official statement from the Trump Administration is appalling. It is the definition of the inability of our own government to take responsibility for their own actions. So it comes as no surprise that the White House would be unable to correctly assign blame to other tyrants.

While the Trump Administration may think that we are all as ignorant as they are, we live in the technology era. The internet never forgets. It makes it that much easier to prove just how hypocritical the current administration really is.

The Trump Administration has not been clear on the White House’s position on the evil Syrian dictator. Although they have condemned the terrorist attacks against the Syrian people, the White House has also indicated that it was softening its stance on the Syrian Regime.

The message we are sending to these innocent Syrians pleading for help is fairly clear. We are trying to ban travel from their country. We are accusing them of being a danger to our security. We are refusing to take Syrian refugees fleeing from these attacks.

These are the children that the GOP dehumanizes on every other day. Their condemnation of these attacks means nothing. Talk is cheap, Republicans. Unless you recently asked the wizard for a heart, your childish finger pointing at Obama and endless demonizing of innocent Syrians is what defines you.
