Director Of EPA Needs Around The Clock Security To Protect Him From ‘The Left’ And His Own Employees

Not only are taxpayers having to foot the bill for the endless trips Donald Trump makes to play golf in Florida and to guard his wife and son as they remain in New York, they’ll also be paying for a 24-hour security force to protect EPA head Scott Pruitt, who feels threatened.

The New York Times reports that a draft budget from the EPA includes a request for an additional 10 security guards and a 24-7 security detail for Pruitt. That would be the first time an EPA administrator has ever requested such a security detail.

That same budget would also drastically slash the EPA, slashing the agency’s budget by $2.4 billion and eliminating over 15,000 jobs. Among the planned cuts:

  • Environment, health, and climate change programs.
  • Eliminating programs such as the one which prevents childhood exposure to lead paint.
  • Water quality resource grants.
  • Protecting coastal waterways.

Myron Ebell, the former head of Trump’s EPA transition team defended the request for armed security to protect Pruitt, saying:

“I think it’s prudent given the continuing activities by the left to foment hatred, and the reported hostility within the agency from some unprofessional activists.”

Then again, perhaps if Pruitt wasn’t such a zealous anti-environment activist himself, he might not need to bill us all for the blowback he’s expecting in response to the disastrous policies he’ll soon be implementing.

And Pruitt is not the only cabinet member that has to have constant security. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is currently under the protection of the U.S. Marshals Service. That costs at least $1 million a month.

So now we will be faced with the prospect of protecting these asshats as they go about completely destroying the agencies they’ve been chosen to lead. It’s it a bit like making a person injured by a speeding motorist pay to repair the car that hit him. Enjoy it, Trump voters; this is what you said you wanted.
