WATCH ‘The Mooch’ Self-Destruct During An Interview On CNN

Wednesday night, newly-minted White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci sent out a tweet in which he later deleted. In it, Scaramucci seemed to insinuate that Chief of Staff Reince Priebus had leaked financial disclosure forms and perhaps even broken the law:

So on Thursday morning, Scaramucci was in full damage control mode, calling into CNN to try and clarify what he had meant with his cryptic posting. He began by telling host Chris Cuomo:

“What I’m upset about is the process — and the junk pool, the dirty pool — in terms of the way this stuff is being done. I can’t have a couple of friends up from Fox & Friends, and Sean Hannity, who’s one of my closest friends, to dinner with the president and his first lady without it being leaked in seven minutes.”

Hey, that’s life in the fishbowl, Mooch. If you can’t handle it, then hand in your resignation and leave town.

Oddly, Scaramucci said that when it comes to leaks from the administration, “the fish stinks from the head down.” So does that mean that the main leaker in White House is the president himself? Scaramucci swore he hadn’t meant to suggest such a thing, adding:

“I can tell you two fish that don’t stink. And that’s me and the president.”

And what about the reference to Priebus in his tweet? What exactly did that mean? Scaramucci assured Cuomo that he still considered the Chief of Staff to be a “brother,” noting that “some brothers are rough on each other.”

To further complicate the matter, Scaramucci quickly tossed out this line:

“Some brothers are like Cain and Abel. I don’t know if this is reparable or not, that’s up to the president.”

Cain and Abel, huh? I seem to recall that one of them wound up dead.

Not quite done lighting himself on fire for the world to see, Scaramucci concluded the bizarre interview by saying some members of the administration feel it’s their job to “save America from this president.” Instead, Scaramucci suggested:

“Their job is to inject this president into America.”

Apparently Donald Trump’s insanity is contagious. And Scaramucci got a double dose of it.
