Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is famous for foreclosing on many people caught up in the 2008 housing crisis. He was even known as the ‘forclosure king’. He also managed to escape prosecution.
Well meet his wife, Scottish actress Louise Linton. She likes to show off on social media. She likes flaunting her big designer brands and her high-flying lifestyle. A recent post on Instagram did not go so well for her. The actress posted this on Instagram (since deleted):
She instantly received replies such as “Please don’t tag your Hermes scarf, it’s distasteful“. Others questioned her tax-paid trip.
This obviously annoyed Ms Linton who then replied with this rant:
“Did you think this was a personal trip?! Adorable! Do you think the US govt paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?! Lololol. Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day “trip” than you did.
Thanks for the passive aggressive nasty comment. Your kids look very cute. Your life looks cute. I know you’re mad but deep down you’re really nice and so am I.”
This is what is wrong with this country, half of the population earn less than $30 000 a year. Half of the country have to worry about making ends meet. The upper one percent have too much. They have hand bags worth more than many of their fellow Americans can earn in a year. Many people cannot afford to pay for healthcare. This is called income inequality. Steve Mnuchin’s wife had the audacity to rub this inequality in everyone’s face.
What makes her comments even worse is that her husband is personally responsible for coming down hard on real people, he made sure they paid for the big bankers who were taking ridiculous risks. Wall street did not pay for these risks. In fact no one in Wall St was prosecuted for giving ridiclous loans and being ultimately greedy. They were not punished, but regular everyday home owners were. People lost their houses while Steve Mnuchin is now a cabinet member and his wife is bragging about her designer wear. This is revoltingly out of touch and is reminiscent of Mary Antoinette’s famous line “Let them eat cake!”
Verm. Senator Bernie Sanders and President Donald Trump were two populists, who ran last year and unfortunately the one who does not care at all about the poor won and it is highlighted by his current cabinet.
