In response to all the sexual assault revelations, Supreme Court Justice Bill O’Neill from Ohio thought it was the proper time to chime in with some “words of wisdom”:
“In the last fifty years I was sexually intimate with approximately 50 very attractive females…”
He continued with a staunch defense of Al Franken’s morally questionable behavior:
“…Now that the dogs of war are calling for the head of Senator Al Franken I believe it is time to speak up on behalf of all heterosexual males…”
And just when you thought Judge O’Neill was finished, he brashly discussed his sexual conquests:
“…It ranged from a gorgeous personal secretary to Senator Bob Taft (Senior) who was my first true love and we made passionate love in the hayloft of her parents barn.”

Judge O’Neill’s decision to jump into the fray presumably derives from America’s entrenched patriarchy. The quote is rife with machismo, naivete, and deflection. For one, sleeping with “50 very attractive women” does nothing to address the point at issue: unwanted sexual contact.
You see, here’s the thing… O’ Neill’s bragging was hugely misguided as he failed to invoke the proper distinction, i.e., consensual versus non-consensual sex. Okay, yes, Judge O’Neill might see himself as a silver fox like Richard Gere, but he fails to appease the current wave of horrendous revelations, especially those associated with Roy Moore.
Furthermore, Judge Bill O’Neill’s defense of Senator Al Franken comes off as defensive. I’m sure White, heterosexual males are doing just fine in ‘Murica. Disappointedly, Coming to the defense of Franken was merely another way for Judge O’Neill to perpetuate white male privilege.
Judge O’Neill’s most puzzling statement involved throwing women under the bus: why not keep your sexual exploits private? What are you trying to prove?
Later in the day, Judge O’Neill posted on Facebook again:
And then issued a non-apology apology:
I feel sorry for the women that inaccurately perceived this man as an “honorary judge,” when, in actuality, he has no qualms embarrassing previous sexual partners by bringing attention to them.
Given the flood of women publicly calling out men for sexually deviant behavior, it’s not shocking to see powerful men, like Judge O’Neill, attempting to redirect America’s gaze. But, it’s not working: America wants to clean out its chauvinist skeletons.
