RWNJ Host Doesn’t Want You To Know He’s A Racist (TWEETS/VIDEOS)

For the last six-plus years, People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch has performed an essential public service–calling out the looniest elements of the right by highlighting their most unhinged comments. Not surprisingly, it’s put a lot of these right-wingers on edge. Remember, folks, Donald Trump isn’t the only right-winger who has a coronary over–horrors!–actually having to answer for spewing diarrhea of the mouth.

But recently, one prominent right-winger has gone to great lengths to scurry away from the hot lights. When Right Wing Watch busted him for making racist comments about Senator Cory Booker, he tried to have all evidence of his racist comments scrubbed from the tubes.

In case you missed it last week, when Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she claimed not to remember Trump referring to African countries as “shitholes.” Booker was having none of it. Watch Booker lay into Nielsen here.

Booker thought Nielsen took a dismissive line in answering questions about Trump’s remarks, and found that “unacceptable to me.” He also found it hard to believe that Nielsen couldn’t remember Trump using those words when Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin remembered hearing them. “Your silence and amnesia is complicity!” he yelled.

Not surprisingly, conservative commentators slammed Booker as a bully and a buffoon.

But few of them went as far as Gavin McInnes of CRTV. On the January 17 edition of his show, “Get Off My Lawn,” McInnes had this to say about Booker.

“I just realized something. Cory Booker is kind of like Sambo. He’s kind of shucking and jiving for the white man. Cory Booker grew up rich in an all-white suburb. He’s basically a white guy. His parents were very wealthy executives at IBM. But he wants to be a black dude, so he pretends that he’s down with the brothers and he acts outraged about racism all the time—for white people. That gets him votes from whites.”

Wow. It’s almost as if MacInnes was trying to pack in as many racist tropes and dog whistles as possible.

The following week, PFAW and Right Wing Watch got word that CRTV had flagged three YouTube clips it had previously posted from MacInnes, including his riff on Booker, and claimed they were copyright violations. YouTube deleted the clips, but Right Wing Watch appealed on fair use grounds. Never fear, though–you can watch it on Twitter.

Right Wing Watch has been through this before. Back in 2013, Gordon Klingenschmitt filed a blizzard of copyright claims against Right Wing Watch, and briefly got Right Wing Watch’s YouTube account terminated. However, YouTube ultimately sided with Right Wing Watch and restored the account.

But it looks like CRTV and MacInnes are taking another step to make sure no one knows about MacInnes’ outrageous comments. On Friday, Right Wing Watch noticed that CRTV had edited out MacInnes’ racist attack on Booker from its archive of “Get Off My Lawn” episodes.

Wow. Could MacInnes and CRTV have possibly been more blatant?

It’s not the first time that one of Right Wing Watch’s targets has tried to close the barn door after the horse escaped halfway down the road. In 2012, Rick Santorum paid a visit to Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. While introducing Santorum, the church’s pastor, Dennis Terry, loudly declared that this country was a Christian nation–and anyone who didn’t like it could “GET OUT!” Watch here.

The above video went severely viral, prompting Terry to try to convince us he wasn’t really telling non-Christians to pack up and leave. When that didn’t work, he had the church delete footage of the service from the video archive, and asked members to delete all footage of it from their social media accounts. Uh huh–after Right Wing Watch’s clip racked up well over 200,000 views.

If CRTV’s response is any indication, it’s yet more proof that six years later, the wingnut fringe still doesn’t know that the Internet never forgets.
