Dustin Hoffman Breaks Down In Tears Describing Being Degraded As A Woman In Tootsie

When legendary actor Dustin Hoffman was researching for his role in the hit movie “Tootsie,” he had an “epiphany” about what it means to be a woman.

?I was shocked that I wasn’t more attractive, and I said, ?Now you have me looking like a woman, make me a beautiful woman,? because I thought I should be beautiful. If I was going to be a woman I would want to be as beautiful as possible. And they said to me, ?That’s as good as it gets. That’s as beautiful as we can get you.?? (Source)

He explained to his wife that he felt that he was an “interesting woman” and that he had himself overlooked many amazing women because they didn’t meet his “brainwashed” standards of beauty.

Hoffman’s character was a struggling actor who had a hard time finding a job as a man and decided to pretend to be a woman in order to improve his chances at finding work. He choked up and could barely finish his interview.

“That was never a comedy for me.”
