Mother Warms The Heart Of The World In Response To Son Coming Out

Zach Gibson is a brave young man who decided to come out as gay on Facebook. Afterwards, his mother sent him a letter and then took him to task for being irresponsible — by leaving empty soda cans and tea bottles in his room.

Like any normal mother (or father), she was concerned about him keeping his room clean. Sure, she?did?spend a fair amount of time in the beginning of the letter, praising Zach for his bravery and promising to love him unconditionally…

I want you to know that I love you unconditionally. I love you with my actions, not just words. I’m so proud of you.

This beautiful letter was posted on NO H8’s Facebook page and has been “liked” over 117,000 times and shared by nearly 36,000 Facebook members. As the story trended upward, those who read the letter wanted to know the identity of Zach, as well as his mother.

Zach replied to the NO H8 posting by saying:

I’m Zach, the one this is addressed too (sic). When I came out last week, I never expected this much support. I knew my mom would be fine with it, but I never expected this letter and I never expected this many people to spread it around. This means so much.

“I knew my mom would be fine with it.” ?That’s just perfect. ?Good for his mother, who has identified herself as Michelle Conway McClain. Apparently always humble and gracious, she responded to the outpouring of support and accolades in true form:

People keep telling me that I’m an amazing mother, but it’s easy to be when I have such an amazing son.

Yes Michelle, you are an amazing mother and you’re too humble about it. You should be as proud of who you are, as the rest of the approving world is proud of you. And please, for all the rest of the struggling parents in the world — let us know how the pop cans and the tea bottles thing works out.
