Vince Gill Destroys Westboro Baptist Church Members At His Concert

Country singer, Vince Gill had plenty to say to a “C Group” of Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) members, picketing outside his concert in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday.

The video of the confrontation, shot by one of the WBC members, begins with Gill walking out to the sidewalk with his security detail and the camerawoman asking a question, revealing the group’s purpose for being there.

“Vince Gill, what in the world are you doing out here? But, more importantly, what are you doing with another man’s wife??Don’t you know that divorce plus remarriage equals adultery? Jesus Christ said that.”

“Another man’s wife” was in reference to Vince Gill’s divorce in 1998 and remarriage to singer, Amy Grant, in 2000. ?The Westboro Baptist Church, headed up by the heavy-handed patriarch, Fred Phelps, is well-known for picking “sins” out of the Bible and yelling their brand of hatred towards anyone they can accuse of those favorite sins.

Vince Gill’s response was priceless, revealing how narrow-minded and cherry-picked WBC’s views actually are.

“You know what else [Jesus Christ] said? He said a lot of stuff about forgiveness, about grace. You guys don’t have any of that.”

Predictably ignoring his response, the woman behind the camera kept talking. ?Vince ignored her and turned to Steve Drain, WBC’s sign maker and website content creator, father of Lauren Drain, who left the group in 2008 after questioning the hateful doctrines of the church.

Hey! I’ve seen you on tv! You big dip sh*t.”

Steve Drain just looked away, his infamous smirk plastered across his face. ?To Steve, as he has said in many interviews, his job is just to tell everyone they are going to hell. ?He expects the blow-back, but considers it the “persecution” that Jesus spoke of in the New Testament.

WBC members don’t care about the forgiveness that Vince Gill was talking about, unless of course one of their members is the “sinner.” ?The daughter of Fred Phelps, Shirley Phelps-Roper, the most visible spokesperson for the church, gave birth to her son Sam before she was married to her husband. ?Having a child out of wedlock is a well-known “sin” in fundamentalist circles and yet, Shirley’s sister Margie, explains it away by saying?”She was young. She made a mistake.”

Apparently, it’s okay for a WBC member to “sin” and get away with it, forgiveness being readily available, but anyone else outside of the church, God hates them.

Good job Vince Gill, for confronting these people, exposing their hypocrisy and lack of living out the very faith they purport to espouse.
