What Happens When NASA Scientists Hold A Pumpkin Carving Contest?

Pumpkin carving contests can go from cute to crazy intense and competitive very easily. At NASA, they take pumpkin carving to a whole new level.

The Mars Curiosity Rover, one of the few programs at NASA not cut by the government, is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This group of scientists, engineers, and technological geniuses got together and put on a display of pumpkins a little more intense than the one sitting on your front porch. These pumpkins went from meticulously carved to robotically engineered carvings of solar systems, the Mars Rover, and just plain creepy, lit up, disco like monsters.

For an agency that has successfully launched humans to the moon and back, landed a craft on Mars, and made some of the most groundbreaking discoveries about space ever, you can only expect the same dedication for their Halloween works of art.
