Being a stay-at-home mom, or dad for that matter, is one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs anyone can have. You share in every moment of your child’s life, from taking care of runny noses to solving those hysterical adolescent problems with a therapeutic ear. The pay, besides the psychologically rewarding compensation, is pretty much, well, nothing.
With all the professional hats stay at home parents don every day, their salary is, well, pretty much a wash; but what if they were paid industry average for all those jobs? Stay at home parenting would definitely beat out most professions, salary wise, in the United States.
Let’s break it down and look at just what these parents would walk away with each year.

Now, remember this does not include the multitude of overtime that these parents put in, nor does it account for sick time off; who gets sick time off as a stay at home parent? All in all, stay at home parents do the job that normally takes a dozen people to accomplish, without the salary that comes along with it.
