Houston We Have A Problem: Dave Wilson Dupes Black Voters, Wins Election

The African-American Democrats who voted in the election for the Houston Community College System Board are seething at the results even although the man they voted for won.

The winner, Dave Wilson, is now under scrutiny for his tactics. Illegal voter fraud? No. Ballot stuffing? No. Misleading voters? YES! Mr. Wilson is a right-winged conservative who misled voters into believing that he was African-American. He created materials with smiling African-American faces, that he took off the internet, and sent them around Houston, Texas with the caption:

Please Vote for our Friend & Neighbor, Dave Wilson.

He also had a mailer sent out that read, “Endorsed by Ron Wilson” with the fine print on the bottom reading, “Ron Wilson and Dave Wilson are cousins.” Many voters believed that the endorsement was from that of the former African-American state representative of the same name. However, it was from Dave’s cousin Ron that lives in Iowa.?Wilson told KHOU:

Every time a politician talks, he’s out there deceiving voters.

Wilson defeated 24 year Democrat incumbent Bruce Austin by a mere 26 votes. Austin was very disappointed with the tactics of his opponent and tried to answer with a mailer of his own showing Wilson’s face on his mailers. Austin stated:

I don’t think it’s good for both democracy and whole concept of fair play. But that was not his intent, apparently.

The Houston Community College has been under criticism for bad performance as well as business deals that involved spending money on overseas initiatives.

Bruce Austin plans to call for a recount but that is expected to be squashed due to electronic voting. Wilson’s victory will more than likely stand giving him a six-year term.
