American ?Apparel has never been shy about edgy advertising and promotions — they introduced a menstruation t-shirt last year — but their edginess has gotten hairy. One of their stores is now featuring mannequins with full bushes of hair “down there.”
We can’t have possibly put it any better than Gothamist did:
The rugs on those American Apparel mannequins are really something, huh? Notable not only for the fact that they exist, they’re also prodigious, straining against mesh panties like a furry Rorschach test or a bundle of untroubled Daddy longlegs.
The awesome thing about this new trend is that we’re all learning a new word:
mer?kin [mur-kuhn]
noun
false hair for the female pudenda.
Origin:
1610?20; origin uncertain
Some say that “natural” is making a comeback. What do you think?
