A video that was uploaded to YouTube on February 10, 2014 has gone viral and the young woman — known only as “Yulia” — in the video has become the “face of Ukraine.”

In “I Am a Ukrainian,” Yulia speaks out about the long-simmering Euromaidan protests in Ukraine that have turned deadly. From the video:

“I want you to know why thousands of people in my country are on the streets,” she said.

“There is only one reason. We want to be free from dictatorship, we want to be free from the politicians who work only for themselves.”

From CTV Canada AM?on Thursday:

?This need of attracting attention to our big problem, to our big tragedy was my main motivation to make this video.?

The latest reports say that at least 100 people died on Thursday and 26 or more people died on Tuesday. Video footage has been release showing police snipers killing protesters.
