On Monday afternoon, a weatherman in Mississippi experienced something that seems like a scene from an action flick, but it was terrifyingly real. ?As tornadoes were ripping through Tupelo, Miss.?WTVA’s?chief meteorologist?Matt Laubhan?was still reporting the weather for residents and the staff at the station. When a tornado touched down near the building that?houses WTVA, Laubhan gave his final report before ordering station staff into the basement. He quickly followed them a few seconds later.

?This is a tornado emergency for Lee County. This is a tornado ripping through the city of Tupelo as we speak. And this could be deadly.?

Power faded in and out until he finally had to evacuate himself.

“This is a tornado ripping through the city of Tupelo as we speak, and this could be deadly,? he?reported. Then “Basement. Now…let’s go.

He also took the time to send a Tweet instructing people to find shelter. This is obviously a guy who’s quite a bit more than a TV personality.

Monday’s storms killed 16 people in three states.
