After receiving the news on Saturday that he had been drafted by the St. Louis Rams, becoming the first openly gay NFL player in history, Michael Sam cried and emotionally embraced his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano.
Cammisano graduated from the University of Missouri, the same school as Sam, as an out gay athlete, competing on the school’s swim team. He earned a degree in communications and is a promotions intern at Cumulus Broadcasting, according to his Facebook page.
He was inspired to come out after?diver Greg DeStephen became the first openly gay athlete at the school. No doubt his own courage gave Michael Sam the encouragement to be true to himself.
Luckily for us, Cammisano is a social media aficionado, so we can enjoy some photos and vines of the couple and in some small way, share in their huge victory.
