What’s Your Earliest Internet Memory? (VIDEO)

Early days of the internet

BuzzFeed recently sat down with?Chris Hardwick, Jessica Chobot, Malik Fort?, Dan Casey, and Chloe Dykstra from?Nerdist.com?and asked them to share their earliest internet memories. The answers are hilarious and nostalgic.

Mine: not being able to talk on the phone and be online at the same time. Of course, that was before we all had cell phones. And how about not being able to customize our awful AOL email addresses?

It also strikes me — and my kids listen in disbelief when I tell them this — that “back in the day,” we were all anonymous our of fear of…whatever. Invasion of privacy, safety, etc…Even our closest internet “friends” didn’t know our real names and it was a reallyyyy big deal if they did. “I know her in real life” was a sign of prestige and importance. But meeting potential dates online was WAY not cool and OK as it is now. It reeked of creepiness and desperation.

Also, some of the acronyms are obsolete. LOL and OMG survived, but who remembers AFK and PMSL? Awwww the good old days. Enjoy the video.
